A team of Principal Officers, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole recently paid a courtesy visit to the Osun state commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun A. Ige.
According to Prof. Ogunwole, the visit was to properly welcome her to Osun state, and to strengthen the cordial relationship between Bowen University and the Osun state police command.
“We are here today to welcome you to Osun as we have not been here since you assumed duty as the CP of the state. We also want to thank you for the relentless efforts of you and your team, and your words of assurance during the unfortunate kidnap incident involving our staff members. We really appreciate you, and pray your stay in Osun state will be blessed,” he said.
He further stated that Bowen would need more of her help in the efforts of the university to kick drug and substance abuse out of Bowen University by December, 2019.
In her response, CP Ige expressed her delight at the visit and assured the Vice Chancellor and his team that the command would always provide the necessary support whenever it is needed. She added that the fight against drugs is a commendable one and suggested that some officers seeking to further their studies could be given scholarships to Bowen, with a view to providing information and help in curbing substance abuse among other vices.
She stressed the need for the security personnel in the university to be alert, sensitive and open to doing covert work, and not limit their duties to the mere opening and closing of gates.
