college of AGRICULTURE, ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE (COAES)
Biochemistry Programme
Research Professor of Biochemistry at Bowen University, Iwo, Nigeria, and an Academic Associate in the Department of Life and Consumer Sciences, University of South Africa, South Africa. I have successfully supervised five PhD and four MSc students. I am a prolific writer with about forty-nine publications. I am also a member of some notable professional bodies and an alumnus of a Nobel laureates meeting in Medicine/ Physiology held in Germany in 2011. I have taught several courses in biochemistry at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have also had some years of experience as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in South Africa and served as an editor for three books on medicinal plants.
Education
- Ph.D (Biomedical Technology) Biomedical Sciences, Cape Peninsula University of Technology (2013)
- M.Sc (Biochemistry) University of Port Harcourt (2007)
- B.Tech (Applied Biochemistry) Federal University of Technology, Akure, (2002)
Research
Research interest focuses on the therapeutic use of medicinal plants, plant products and synthesized compounds in the management of metabolic diseases particularly diabetes mellitus and obesity. In addition, I also investigate the molecular mechanisms through which these agents exhibit their health promoting effects.
