Food Science and Technology Programme
Babatunde Olunlade, presently a Professor of Food Science and Technology with New Food Product Development as area of expertise at Bowen University Iwo. He joined the Faculty as a Senior Lecturer (Food Science and Technology) at the incipient stage (2002), led the team that won the first NUC full accreditation for the programme as the Head of the then Department (2003 – 2010).
He rose to become the Deputy Dean of the then Faculty of Agriculture which housed the programme till the debut of the modified collegiate system. Professor Olunlade, an advocate of collaboration in research has published many journal articles with many experts from fields other than Food Science and Technology.
The area of specialization is New Food Product Development as it helps in Food Security. He delivered the 10th Inaugural Lecture of Bowen University on the 19th January 2023 titled ” Food !! Every where but not secured to eat – Food Product Development for Food Security” .
He has mentored over 51 undergraduates through project supervision , 4 Postgraduate Diploma , 5 Masters and a Ph.D thesis to date.
