Research
My research interests intersect public relations (organizational and crisis communication), political communication and audience analyses.
Crisis Communication and Management – My research has explored crisis communication strategies employed by a Nigerian Airline with a plane crash history. By matching crisis strategies to specific crisis types, my research has uncovered why some organisations in crisis return to business while others do not. Also, my research has shown how public relations – through rebuilding crisis strategies – can assist organisations in crisis to reconnect with stakeholders to have positive reputations of such organisations. I have presented the findings of this study at several national and international conferences and published the findings in reputable national and international journals.
Indigenizing Teaching of Civic Education in Local Language – This Bowen-funded Research Grant was undertaken to understand the place of indigenous language in teaching primary school pupils. The findings of this study revealed that while teaching and learning are helpful to early learners to understand concepts taught, the indigenized communicative approach – through the teachers’ indigenous dressing, gestures, proverbs, etc. – further enhances indigenous learning and understanding.
