Research
Antibiotic resistance bacteria and genes from hospital wastewaters.
Untreated wastewater plays a key role in the contamination of the environment with antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) at the Human-Environment Interface. Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase (ESBL) Producing Gram-Negative Bacteria Wastewaters from Selected Hospitals in Southwest Nigeria were isolated and characterized.
Proteus mirabilis isolated from untreated hospital wastewater, Ibadan, Southwestern Nigeria showed low-level resistance to fluoroquinolone and carried qnrD3 on Col3M plasmids.
