Omowumi. T. AKINOLA, (FISLT) is a Research Fellow II (Lecturer II) at Bowen University, Iwo, Nigeria. She started her career in Science Laboratory Technology and went on to obtain a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Microbiology from the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. She then proceeded to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho where she bagged a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Environmental Biology. After this, she obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology (First Class Honors) and a Master’s Degree in Microbiology from Bowen University Iwo. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Microbiology at the same institution. She earlier worked as a Technologist in the Microbiology Laboratory where she rose to the rank of an Assistant Chief Technologist and alongside bagged a Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT). She is currently a lecturer in the Microbiology Programme at Bowen University.

Research

My research area focuses on using next-generation sequencing to study the characterization of bacterial genomes, so to monitor different transmission routes of environmental antibiotic resistance bacteria, their  gene mechanisms as well as virulence genes. Beam light attention are the enterobacteriaceae particularly those among World Health Organization (WHO) priority list of pathogen of concern.
