Rotimi Adedayo IBIKUNLE
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
college of Agriculture, Engineering and Science (COAES)
MECHATRONICS Engineering Programme
An Associate Professor in the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science. I have a Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, thermofluid option and specialization in Alternative Energy (particularly waste-to-energy (WTE). I have taught different engineering courses that include Mechanics of machines, Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Engineering law and management, and others for about eleven years. I have also taught different courses at postgraduate levels. I have served in different capacities as Students’ level Adviser, Coordinator of the Students’ Works Experience Programme (SWEP), Chairman Security Committee as well as Head of the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at Landmark University, Omu-Aran. I have successfully worked on the development of a Thermoelectric Refrigerator, a refrigerating system that does not use a compressor or refrigerant. It uses electrical energy for cooling purposes. The scientific importance of this research was to have a refrigerating system that will ameliorate the effect of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants from the conventional vapour compression refrigerating that contributes to Ozone layer depletion. I have also researched on the alternative energy system, particular on waste-to-energy system. This will encourage waste to wealth practices, thereby ensuring effective and sufficient waste management systems in the cities and provide an energy source that will complement the hydropower system we depend on.
