Salawu obtained his first degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria, and a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He obtained his doctorate in Applied Mathematics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
