Candidates for the position of Administrative Officer II must possess the following:- Good ‘O’ Level certificate 5 ‘O’ level credits in one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level credits in two sittings, to include English as well as Mathematics and a first university degree not below Second Class Lower Division, from a recognised University in any of the following disciplines: Management Science, Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities.
- The National Youth Service (NYSC) Discharge or Exemption Certificate;
- A proven experience in an administrative or office management role, preferably in an academic setting, will be an added advantage;
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work. Knowledge of university policies and procedures is an advantage;
- Digital soft skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software;
- Possession of a higher degree in the relevant field from a recognised University and qualified membership of professional bodies such as ANUPA, CIPM, NIM, ICSAN, etc. shall be an added advantage.
- DUTIES
The Administrative Officer is expected to provide administrative support, ensuring excellent service delivery of various administrative tasks. This role requires detail-oriented individuals with the skills to handle various administrative responsibilities, facilitating the smooth functioning of the University operation. The successful candidate would primarily be responsible to the Registrar and be required to perform the following duties:- Serving as administrative support staff to Senior Officers in the Registry and any of the Directorates, Colleges, or Units.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, files, and databases.
- Prepare and manage documents, reports, draft minutes of meetings and other presentations as needed.
- Prepare and distribute internal and external communications.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures regarding document handling and storage.
- Coordinate the dissemination of information to students, faculty, and staff.

Directorate of Student Support Services

- DUTIES
The Hostel Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hostels. He/she provides high-quality support services to the students and is also responsible for the basic welfare and discipline of students in the hostels. Successful candidates would primarily be responsible to the Director of Student Support Services and among others be required to perform the following duties:- Plan and supervise accommodation facilities for students.
- Ensures that the cleanliness and hygiene in the hostels are maintained;
- Ensures that routine bed checks are carried out at night and compile relevant reports for action as appropriate;
- Provide basic counselling services for the students;
- Ensure health and safety measures in all the hostels and affiliated hostels within and outside the campus (at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso);
- Work in synergy with the Security Officers to ensure that security is maintained in the hostels;
- Periodically verify the functioning of facilities in the hostels and take action on any repairs or replacement through the Directorate of Estate Management;
- Ensure the maintenance of discipline and decorum in and around the hostels;
- Pursue, at the appropriate level, all complaints relating to common room items such as the conditions of television and decoders;
- Respond to any complaint or misunderstanding between or among the students;
- To work with the Hall Committee in ensuring an inclusive and supportive hostel environment, welcoming to students from a diverse backgrounds;
- To encourage students in the hostels to participate in hostel and university activities particularly, prompt attendance at spiritual programmes in the Chapel and to observe the daily devotion in the morning and night in the hostels;
- To play a key role in the dissemination of appropriate information to students in the hostels;
- To develop efficient and effective working relationships with colleagues working in appropriate sections and departments within the University;
- Prepare and submit periodical reports on activities in the hostels and recommend to the appropriate authority how to improve on general living of students in the hostels; and
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the Directorate of Student Support Services.

Bowen University runs a unique remuneration package similar to what is obtainable in other tertiary institutions. The University is a fully residential institution. Consequently, the staff of the University must reside either in Iwo or Ogbomoso, as the case may be.
