I Pioneered and popularized the use of misoprostol in the ripening of the cervix and induction of labour in pregnant women at the OAUTHC, Ile-Ife. This led to a more effective means of induction and delivery with reduction in the incidence of failed induction of labour with reduced caesarean section rate.
I initiated and popularized the procedure of caesarean myomectomy at OAUTHC which was hitherto a no-go area in Obstetric care. I trained many consultants and resident doctors in OAUTHC, Ile-Ife how to perform caesarean myomectomy safely. This has reduced the need for a second separate surgery of myomectomy after the procedure of caesarean section in a patient with co-existing fibroids at the time of initial caesarean section.
I Co-Pioneered the establishment of Reproductive Endocrinology Unit and I am the pioneer unit head. We have started performing IUI with Husband or Donor semen.
We are waiting for facility to be made available by OAUTHC Ile-Ife so that we can expand the scope to a full-fledged Assisted Reproductive Technology Centre (ART) for In-Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET). This centre is necessary for the teaming population of our infertile patients for whom conventional treatment no longer works. The Co-Pioneer team is already trained to be able to run an Assisted Conception Centre.
