Medicine Programme
I am Dr Peter Kehinde UDUAGBAMEN, a nephrologist and fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP).
I have been involved in teaching, research, patient care, mentoring of the younger generations, over the past seven years, I have actively performed these roles.
Education
- Fellow, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP), 2019
- Fellow, West African College of Physicians (FWACP), 2017
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB;BS), 2002
Research
My research is centere around five pivots namely: dialysis, cardiac and vascular surgery associated kidney diseases, gender differences in kidney function and kidney diseases, nephrotoxicity, and inflammation and its correlates. My dissertation for my fellowship in the the West African College was on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use and renal effects based on the very high prevalence of usage. My dissertation for my fellowship in the the National postgraduate college dealt with the adequacy of dialysis treatment to patients with end-stage kidney diseases.
Since then, I have been part part, and have led several research team to work on determining the relationship between body fluid volume and blood pressure, and the dialysis dose. This has bridged the gap between the knowledge about dialysis, particularly haemodialysis. With a passion to driving a new zeal in the heart of African researchers in medicine and health sciences, and particularly in nephrology, I have opted to lead further and deeper insightful and impactful research into gender differentiations in health and diisease and I’m presently pioneering research aimed at diving into deeper concepts of gender differences in nephrology and cardiorenal medicine. This feat, a new horizon among African researchers in medicine and health sciences, has witnessed the publication of three articles in learned international peer-reviewed journals, with more at various levels of preparations.
