Research
As of now, my research can be categorized into four main areas:
African Culture and Media Studies is a vibrant and interdisciplinary research area that explores the complex interplay between traditional and contemporary African cultures and various forms of media. This field as I often engage in investigating the role of media, including film, television, radio, literature, music, and digital platforms, in shaping and reflecting the diverse cultures of the African continent.
My research works in this area examine how media both influences and is influenced by the rich tapestry of African traditions, languages, and social dynamics. They explore the representation of African identities, histories, and experiences in media, addressing issues such as cultural authenticity, stereotyping, and the impact of globalization on local cultures.
I also often delve into the power dynamics within the media landscape, examining issues of ownership, access, African communities engagement and the role of media in shaping public discourse.
Christian Drama and Film Studies constitute an intriguing research area that delves into the exploration, analysis, and interpretation of dramatic and cinematic expressions within the context of Christian themes, narratives, and values. This interdisciplinary field examines the ways in which dramatic performances and films convey and reflect Christian beliefs, ethics, and cultural influences.
My interest area here contributes to a nuanced understanding of the dynamic relationship between art, faith, and culture. By examining the creative expressions within these mediums, researchers seek to unravel the ways in which Christian narratives are conveyed, interpreted, and contribute to broader conversations within the realms of theology, aesthetics, and societal values.
Identity and Human Animal Studies contributes to a broader understanding of the complex interplay between human identity, culture, and the animal kingdom. By examining the multifaceted ways in which humans perceive, relate to, and incorporate animals into their sense of self, researchers aim to shed light on the intricate dynamics that shape our understanding of identity in the context of the natural world.
