Feeding on Campus
Welcome to the Bowen University section dedicated to providing healthy, affordable, and convenient food options for students on campus! We understand the importance of nourishing our students with nutritious meals that support both academic success and overall well-being.
Our Commitment
At Bowen University, we are committed to promoting the overall well-being of our students. One way we prioritise their health is by ensuring they have access to wholesome, affordable, and convenient food options right here on campus. We work with a network of approved cafeterias, each offering a wide range of meals to suit different tastes and budgets.
Meal Plan: Pay As You Eat (PATE)
We believe in flexibility and financial freedom. That is why Bowen University operates a Pay As You Eat (PATE) system for all students. There are no mandatory meal plans or upfront bulk payments for food. Students simply pay for what they eat, when they eat. This system ensures you never have to worry about wasting money on meals you do not consume, and you have the freedom to choose where and what to eat every day.
Cafeterias on Campus
Bowen University is home to several cafeterias located across the campus, providing convenient access to food from various points on campus. Currently, there are at least eight (8) cafeterias operating within the university. These include:
- BUPAF Cafeteria: One of the most popular cafeterias on campus, known for its good food, neat environment, and excellent customer service. It is widely regarded as one of the best cafeterias in Bowen University.
- Jubilee Cafeteria: Located beside the new female hostel, Jubilee Cafeteria is a favourite among students, particularly those residing in the nearby hostels. It sees a significant increase in customers on Sundays after the school chapel service.
- Other Cafeterias: In addition to BUPAF and Jubilee, there are several other cafeterias spread across campus, including those mentioned in academic research on campus food services. Each cafeteria offers its unique menu and atmosphere, giving students a variety of choices.
Nutritional Balance and Variety
The food served in our cafeterias is prepared with a focus on providing balanced, nutritious meals. Our cafeteria operators offer a diverse range of options, including:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Lean proteins (chicken, fish, beef)
- Whole grains (rice, beans, yam, plantain)
- Local Nigerian delicacies
- Snacks and beverages
Whether you are craving traditional Nigerian dishes like jollof rice, egusi soup, or spaghetti and egg, or you prefer lighter options like salads and smoothies, you will find something to satisfy your appetite.

Remember, our goal is to provide a campus dining experience that not only supports your academic success but also nurtures your well-being through healthy, affordable, and convenient food choices. We welcome you to explore our cafeterias and enjoy the diverse culinary offerings at Bowen University!
Bon appétit!

Student Feedback and Collaboration
We value the opinions of our students and continuously seek their input to improve our food services. Regular feedback from students helps cafeteria operators understand preferences and adapt their menus accordingly. Many cafeterias, such as BUPAF, have built a reputation based on positive student reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations. We encourage students to share their dining experiences to foster a collaborative environment where everyone’s voice is heard.
Meal Times
Cafeterias generally operate within specific time frames to ensure orderly service. Students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the operating hours of their preferred cafeterias to avoid inconvenience.
Hygiene and Safety
All approved cafeterias on campus are expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety. The university periodically monitors food handling practices to ensure compliance with health regulations.
