The Programmes
English
Bowen’s English programme offers a comprehensive study of literature, language, and communication, preparing students for careers in writing, editing, teaching, and more. With a focus on critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication, Bowen provides a vibrant learning environment for students passionate about English and literature. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include Literature in English, English and three other Arts or Social Science subjects.
- JAMB: English, Literature in English, and any two (2) Arts subjects.
History and International Studies
With a focus on critical analysis, research skills, and a global perspective, Bowen’s History & International Studies programme offers a deep exploration of global history, politics, and cultures, preparing students for careers in diplomacy, research, teaching, and international organizations. A dynamic learning environment is provided for students interested in understanding the complexities of the past and present world. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English, Government/History, Economics and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
- JAMB: English, History/Government, Economics and any other subject from the Arts and Social Sciences.
Music
Our Music programme offers a comprehensive study of music theory, history, performance, and composition, preparing students for careers as musicians, music educators, composers, directors, and music therapists. With a focus on individualized instruction, performances, and access to a wide range of musical instruments, Bowen provides an enriching environment for students passionate about music. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics, Music and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
Additionally, any of:- A credit level pass in Music at the Senior Secondary School level or
- A Pass at Grade V or Higher (Local Examinations in Music) of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) or other comparable body or
- A Pass at an Audition or Aptitude Test in Music set by the admitting programme [the test will normally include a demonstration of the ability to sing or play instrument(s)].
- JAMB: English, Music, any other Arts/Social Science subjects.
Philosophy and Religious Studies
The Philosophy & Religious Studies programme offers a rich exploration of diverse religious traditions, philosophical ideas, and critical thinking skills, preparing students for careers in teaching, research, counseling, social work, ethics consulting, directing cultural programs and religious leadership. With a curriculum that fosters intellectual curiosity and respect for diverse worldviews, Bowen provides a supportive environment for students to deepen their understanding of world philosophy and religions. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English, Christian Religious Studies and three other relevant Arts/Social Science subjects.
- JAMB: English, Christian Religious Studies and any two (2) other relevant subjects.
Theatre Arts
At Bowen, a faculty of experienced professionals provides a vibrant and supportive environment for students passionate about the performing arts. Bowen’s Theatre Arts programme offers a dynamic exploration of performance, production, and theatrical theory, preparing students for careers in acting, directing, stage management, and arts administration. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English, Literature in English and three other Arts/Social Science subjects.
- JAMB: English, Literature in English and two (2) other relevant subjects.
Communication Arts
Bowen’s Communication Arts programme offers comprehensive training in media production, public speaking, and creative writing. With state-of-the-art facilities, expert faculty, and a focus on practical skills, Bowen is the ideal place to train candidates for successful careers in Writing & Publishing, Crisis Communication, Brand Management, Editing, SEO Specialisation, Speechwriting, Communication Consulting, and more. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes or equivalent, including English, Literature in English and any three other Arts or Social Science subjects in addition to a minimum of Pass in Mathematics.
- JAMB: English, Literature in English, History/Government/Civic Education and any other Arts/Social Science subject.
