Biochemistry
Biochemistry explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms. Graduates of this programme from Bowen pursue careers in medical biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, and research. Our experienced faculty provides the ideal environment for aspiring biochemists, with a commitment to excellence. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.
- JAMB: English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.
Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry
With international grant winning faculty, the Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry programmes at Bowen focus on the principles of chemical sciences and their industrial applications, offering graduates the options of pursuing careers in pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, environmental science, and/or research. Programme entry requirements:
- Chemistry
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- JAMB: English, Chemistry and two (2) of Physics/Biology/Mathematics.
- Industrial Chemistry
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.
- JAMB: English, Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics/Biology/Agricultural Science.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering
At the Electrical Electronics Engineering programme, Bowen faculty covers the design, development, and maintenance of electrical systems and devices, equipping graduates with all they need to pursue careers in power generation, telecommunications, electronics, and renewable energy. With modern laboratories, expert faculty, and a focus on practical skills, Bowen provides a great environment for studying Electrical Electronics Engineering. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other science subject
- JAMB: English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Food Science and Technology
At Bowen, the Food Science & Technology programme delves into the science of food production, processing, and safety with cutting-edge laboratories, expert faculty, and a focus on innovation. Graduates can choose to pursue careers in food manufacturing, quality control, research, and product development. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Physics, or any other relevant science subject.
- JAMB: English, Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.
Mathematics and Statistics
The Mathematics & Statistics programmes at Bowen explore advanced mathematical theories and statistical methods, equipping students to pursue careers in data science & analytics, quantitative & financial analysis, algorithm development, operations research analysis, biostatistics, demographics, risk analysis, finance, actuarial science, and research. With expert faculty which includes a top 2% world scholar, and a commitment to academic excellence, Bowen is one of the best places to study Mathematics & Statistics. Programme entry requirements:
- Mathematics
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from Chemistry/Biology/Agricultural Science/Geography/Computer Studies/Economics/Further Mathematics/Technical Drawing.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics/Chemistry/Economics/Geography.
- Statistics
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from Chemistry/Biology/Agricultural Science/Geography/Computer Studies/Economics/Further Mathematics/Technical Drawing.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics/Chemistry/Economics.
Mechatronics Engineering
With experienced faculty, and a commitment to interdisciplinary learning, the Mechatronics Engineering programme integrates mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering to design and create smart machines and systems. Graduates can pursue careers in robotics, automation, aerospace, and manufacturing. The duo of Oluwanifemi Adekanye and Joseph Fatoye for instance, were the only Africans selected as AAAI-24 UC scholars at the 38th Artificial Intelligence Conference in Canada, while Aderinola Ogunleye who won a grant of $3,300 was one of 6 recipients to the International Conference on Robotics and Automation in Japan. Bowen is definitely the perfect place for aspiring mechatronics engineers. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subject.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
Microbiology
Microbiology at Bowen delves into the study of microorganisms and their impact on humans, animals, plants, and the environment. Graduates can pursue careers in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and research. Bowen offers cutting-edge laboratories, expert faculty, and a nurturing academic environment, making it a prime location to study Microbiology. Programme entry requirements:

- JAMB: English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.
Physics and Solar Energy
Covering fundamental physics principles and solar energy applications, graduates of the Physics & Solar Energy programme at Bowen can pursue careers in renewable energy, research, and technology development just like the current CEO of Ashdam Solar Company, and the VP of the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, who are both products of the programme. Bowen is home to VT-NigerBEAR, the world’s first and only equatorial-low-latitude SuperDARN, enabling unique observations of space weather phenomena. This joint project between Bowen University, the National Space Research and Development Agency, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, and Virginia Tech USA, enhances research in communications, infrastructure, commerce, and more, making Bowen the best option for aspiring physicists and energy experts. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Further Mathematics/Biology/Agricultural Science.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics/Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/Biology.
Pure and Applied Biology
The Pure & Applied Biology programme covers the comprehensive study of biological sciences and their practical applications, providing graduates the opportunity to explore careers in biotechnology, environmental management, agriculture, and research, with advanced facilities, experienced faculty, and a focus on innovation. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and any one of Food and Nutrition/Health Science/Statistics/Physics/Geography.
- JAMB: English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics.
