Pure and Applied Biology Programme
Member of a research team assessing cyanobacterial diversity and their toxicity potential in selected tropical surface waters in southwest Nigeria
Education
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Biological Sciences – 2022, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh
- Master of Science (M.Sc.) Zoology (Ecology and Environmental Biology) – 2015, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) Zoology – 2010, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State
Research
Areas of research include climate change, taxonomy and eco-physiology of harmful microalgae, phyco-toxins and -toxicity, pigment and spectral analysis, marine and freshwater monitoring and assessment, biogeochemical cycling, remote sensing and macro-benthic invertebrate ecology.
A recipients of the POGO Fellowship for Training on ‘Satellite-based tools for investigating aquatic ecosystems’ awarded to 42 persons globally. This intensive training which covered various aspects of satellite-based monitoring of marine productivity, pollution, bloom detection and prediction and water-borne disease forecasting. Part of this training took place physically at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, United Kingdom. I have heared the opportunity to present my research works in learned conferences at the National and International level. One of my research works presented at the XXXII Gujarat Science Congress (a national Conference, held at Bhavnagar, India in February, 2018) won the best poster presentation award, while another one was also awarded best poster presentation at the National Conference on Vistas in Biodiversity, Biology, Biotechnology and Nanotechnology of Algae (held at Chennai, India, in September, 2018).
