Agriculture Programme
Tunde Ezekiel Lawal is a Professor of Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry in Agricultural Programme, College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science. He had previously served as the Head of Department of Animal Science and Fisheries Management; Vice Provost of his college. Presently, his research interest is on improvement of dairy cattle for enhancement of milk production in Nigeria and sub Saharan Africa.
Education
- B.Sc. University of Ibadan in 1998.
- M.Sc. University of Ibadan in 2000.
- Ph.D University of Ibadan in 2007.
Research
Professor Lawal has worked extensively on the use of agro industrial by-products (AIBs) for animal nutrition. He specializes in the use of fungi for the improvement of nutritional quality of AIBs. As part of his research, he works on the extraction and purification of enzymes for the biodegradation of AIBs. The biodegraded AIBs become better feed ingredients for the animals. Of late, he has been working on the dairy cattle project. He represents the university in the collaboration with the FrieslandCampina WAMCO team. He focuses on improvement of indigenous cattle breed for high milk production. Lawal and his team have succeeded in production of F1 generation of Girolando cattle breed in Bowen University. He is assiduously working on the production of F2 generation of Girolando breed.
