The Programmes
Accounting & Finance
The Accounting & Finance programme provides a robust education in financial management, auditing, and investment analysis. Graduates of Bowen are well-equipped for careers in accounting firms, financial institutions, corporate finance, and consultancy. A Memorandum of Understanding with ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) ensures that Bowen graduates are exempted from 11 of the 16 papers, in addition to providing ICAN-specialized classes for students. A Bowenite, Falope Williams, became a Chartered Accountant at just 18 years of age, in January 2024. You could be next.
Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.
Business Administration
The Business Administration programme at Bowen offers a comprehensive curriculum covering all aspects of business management, preparing graduates for diverse roles in finance, marketing, operations, and entrepreneurship. With a focus on practical skills and ethical leadership, Bowen provides a strong foundation for success in the dynamic field of business administration, and opportunities for graduates to pursue MBAs and DBAs, which are also available in Bowen. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.
Economics
Bowen’s Economics programme delves into economic theory, policy analysis, and quantitative methods. Graduates get inducted as associates into the Nigerian Economic Society, and can pursue careers in banking, consultancy, econometric modeling, risk & investment analysis, government agencies, and international organizations. With experienced faculty, a rigorous curriculum, and a focus on real-world applications, Bowen provides candidates with the top-notch place to develop a successful career in Economics. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics, one social science subject from Geography/Government/History/Civic Education and any other subject.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics, Economics, and any of Government/History/Geography/Civic Education/French/Christian Religious Studies.
Industrial Relations & Personnel Management
Our Industrial Relations and Personnel Management programme prepares students for careers in managing employer-employee relationships, labour laws and human resources. Graduates are equipped for roles in human resources, mediation, labor unions, and government agencies. Bowen’s program stands out for its holistic approach, blending theoretical knowledge with practical skills, ensuring graduates are ready for the dynamic field of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) social science subjects.
- JAMB: English, Mathematics, Economics and one (1) other Social Science subject.
International Relations
International Relations explores global politics, diplomacy, and international organizations. Graduates can pursue careers in diplomacy, international NGOs, global business, and policy analysis. With experienced faculty, a comprehensive curriculum, distinguished personalities such as former ambassadors and consul generals delivering public lectures, and a focus on global perspectives, Bowen is one of the best places to launch a successful career in International Relations. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Government or History or Civics and any other two (2) subjects from Social Science general requirements. A credit in a foreign language will be an added advantage.
- JAMB: English, Government/History and any other two Social Science subjects.
Political Science
At Bowen, the Political Science programme explores governance, policy analysis, and international relations. Graduates can pursue careers in government, diplomacy, political consultancy, and non-profit organizations. With experienced faculty, a comprehensive curriculum, and a focus on practical skills, Bowen is the prime destination to build a career in Political Science. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Mathematics, Government/History and any other two Social Science subjects.
- JAMB: English, Government/History and two (2) other Social Science/Arts subjects.
Politics & Law
As the first Nigerian university to offer a Bachelor’s in Politics & Law, Bowen offers a pioneering and innovative environment for students to excel in this dynamic field, combining elements of political science and law, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of governance, legal systems, and political processes. Graduates are prepared for diverse careers in government, law firms, international organizations, and advocacy groups. Programme entry requirements:
- O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes to include English, Government/History, Civic Education, and any other two relevant Arts/Social Science subjects. A minimum of a pass in Mathematics is required.
- JAMB: English, Government/History, and two other Arts/Social Science subjects.
Sociology
At Bowen, Sociology examines social behavior, institutions, and cultural dynamics. Graduates can pursue careers in social research, public policy, community development, and human resources. - O’LEVEL: Five (5) credit passes in English, Government/History, and three (3) other subjects. A pass in Mathematics is required.

Mass Communication
Home to alumni like Kie-Kie, Damilola, Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, and Bolu Essien, the Mass Communication programme prepares students for dynamic careers. With hands-on training, state-of-the-art facilities which include a radio station and recording studios, and experienced faculty, Bowen provides the perfect environment for aspiring professionals in Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising & Marketing, Digital Media & Content Creation, Corporate Communication, Crisis Management, Broadcasting, Film & Television Production, and Event/Publicity Management, to excel and make a significant impact in the media industry. Programme entry requirements:
