1. BUSINESS MANAGER, BOWEN COMMERCIAL SERVICES (BCS)
Job Description
The Business Manager is expected to coordinate, market, expand, promote, and develop the ventures of the BCS, which currently include Bakery, Water Factory, Transport, Buttery and Agro-allied Services.
The Manager reports to the Board of the BCS daily through the Chairman of BCS.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the management of all current ventures under the BCS;
- Leading, developing and retaining staff to deliver product services most efficiently and effectively;
- Enhancing revenue collection through effective expansion of production and marketing of the BCS products;
- Ensuring effective cost recovery of all product services and operations;
- Meeting performance targets set by the board;
- Planning and managing new acquisitions, maintaining and upgrading all facilities of BCS;
- Initiating new products and services for BCS;
- Ensuring delivery of effective client-focused services; and
- Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by the Board.
Position Profile:
The position requires a dynamic, innovative, creative, meticulous, and energetic individual who can lead by example.
A business manager who can balance the official needs of the campus (students’ needs, workshops, etc) with those of the staff and the larger public.
He/she must be able to effectively coordinate and widen the product service horizon through an aggressive marketing strategy to maintain and sustain the growth of the business.
Ideally, with a strong marketing and business management background, the successful individual would be seeking challenges a little differently from the mainstream buying and selling industry.
Educational Qualification:
The candidate should hold a university degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Any related additional certificates will be an added advantage.
Core Competence:
Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in handling similar business.
- Experience in a University environment would be an asset;
- Knowledge of all business management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines;
- Excellent analytical mind with strong business acumen;
- Ability to balance customer and business priorities;
- Knowledge of quality standards;
- Outstanding communication (oral and written) and good negotiation skills;
- Excellent hands-on experience in customer services and/or sales Management skills;
- Good interpersonal, excellent leadership, people management and organizational skills;
- Numerical and logical planning skills;
- Great attention to details;
- Working knowledge of MS Office; and
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other local languages is a plus
2. DIRECTOR OF ESTATE MANAGEMENT
To be qualified for the position, candidates must possess a minimum of 14 years cognate experience and any of the following:
- M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Architecture from a recognised institution plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate. Membership/Fellowship of a relevant professional body and a higher degree will be an added advantage. In addition, the candidate must be duly registered with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
- M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognised institution plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate. Membership/Fellowship of a relevant professional body and a higher degree will be an added advantage. In addition, the candidate must be duly registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
- M.Sc. in Building from a recognised institution plus NYSC Discharge/ Exemption Certificate. Membership/Fellowship of a relevant professional body and a higher degree will be an added advantage. In addition, the candidate must be duly registered with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON).
- M.Sc. in Quantity Surveying from a recognised institution plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate. Membership/Fellowship of a relevant professional body and a higher degree will be an added advantage. In addition, the candidate must be duly registered with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN).
OR
- A minimum of 18 years of cognate experience and any of the following:

DUTIES
The Director of Estate Management is a senior management officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day Physical/Infrastructural Facilities Planning, Development and Management in the University. The successful candidate must possess a vast knowledge of project management and would be required to:
- Coordinate the activities and general administration of the Directorate.
- Provide advice to the Vice-Chancellor, Senate/Council on matters relating to the physical and infrastructural development of the University.
- Provide advice to the Vice-Chancellor, Senate/Council on matters relating to facility maintenance of the University.
- Make recommendations on appointments of Consultants and Contractors for the University projects and monitor their activities after engagement by the University.
- Prepare tenders and provide evaluation, analysis and reporting of cost implications on contractual issues.
- Monitor and supervise all constructions/projects embarked upon by the University, right from the planning stage to the completion stage.
- Prepare and monitor the University’s budget in conjunction with the Bursary Department.
- Recommend petty job requests from Physical Planning and Works and Services Units within the limit for the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
- Report the activities of the Directorate to the Vice-Chancellor.
- Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

REMUNERATION
Remuneration for the position is attractive but negotiable.
