20th Convocation
As we celebrate this Porcelain Jubilee, we thank God for 24 years of academic excellence, moral strength, and spiritual growth.
From our first 383 graduates in 2006 to this year’s 1,064 graduands, Bowen University stands tall in Godliness and Excellence. Two decades of raising leaders. Two decades of impact.
At the 20th Convocation Press Briefing, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jonathan Babalola, FAS, FRSC (UK), FCSN, reflected on Bowen’s inspiring journey and shared remarkable milestones of the year under review:
Global Recognition
- 7 Bowen scholars ranked among the Top 2% of scientists in the world (Stanford University/Elsevier 2025), again.
- 13 academics listed among Nigeria’s Top 500 Authors (SCOPUS/SCiVal).
- Ranked 71–80 in Sub-Saharan Africa and 9th among private universities in Nigeria by Times Higher Education (THE) 2024.
Awards & Accolades
- Recipient of the Osun State Merit Award for excellence and leadership.
- Award of Excellence in Research Collaboration at the 1st NextGen Africa Biomedical Science & Innovation Symposium.
Academic & Research Growth
- 758% increase in postgraduate enrolment in three years.
- 67 publications by postgraduate students in Scopus-indexed journals.
- Full NUC accreditation for key programmes including Microbiology, Anatomy, Nursing, and Politics & Law.
- Full take-off of new postgraduate programmes in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Law, and Architecture
Global Partnerships

Campus & Infrastructure Development
- Two new lecture theatres commissioned.
- Donation of a New hospital annex donated by the Falade Family.
- Renovated student hostels and a modern sound system were installed at the Worship Centre.
- New hostels and laboratory blocks are under construction in Iwo and Ogbomoso.
Convocation Highlights
- 1,064 graduates across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- First-Class Honours: 143, Second Class (Upper Division): 394, Second Class (Lower Division): 221, Third Class: 69, and Pass: 5
- In Nursing &Physiotherapy; 30 distinctions, 80 credits and 3 pass graduates
- 66 new medical doctors (MB;BS)
- 18 postgraduate diplomas, 26 master’s degrees, and 9 Ph.Ds
A Legacy of Service
This year also marks the final convocation for four exemplary leaders: Mr. Babatunde Adeona (Registrar), Mr. Babatunde Kolawole (University Bursar), Dr. Aderonke Otunla (University Librarian), and Rev. Dr. Gideon Akanbi (Chaplain), whose impact will long be remembered.
