Bowen University has once again demonstrated its growing reputation for research leadership and innovation excellence. On Wednesday, 16th October 2025, the University received the Award of Excellence in Research Collaboration at the 1st NextGen Africa Biomedical Science & Innovation Symposium, organized by Helix Biogen Institute, a leading research hub in Nigeria.
The event brought together distinguished scientists, global health leaders, and young innovators from across Africa to exchange ideas and explore transformative pathways for advancing biomedical research and healthcare on the continent.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jonathan O. Babalola, FAS, was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tunde Lawal. Also representing Bowen at the symposium were the Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Ademola Ayeleso, and Professor Gbemi Ano-Edward of Bowen University Teaching Hospital, who both served as panelists and shared insightful contributions to high-impact discussions on the future of biomedical science in Africa.

This recognition reaffirms Bowen University’s commitment to fostering purposeful research, meaningful collaborations, and innovation-driven solutions for societal advancement.
